In certain parts of the country, February isn’t a time of year associated with growing things. Fortunately, our Business Development Team is an all-season resource – even though team members are located in different regions of the U.S. Receiving comprehensive, on-the-ground, personalized support is key to our advisors’ long-term success. The Team’s goal is to ensure our firm’s high-quality Home Office services are being deployed to maximum effect by our advisors. Indeed, our ability to support our advisors in this manner consistently and well is a key determinant of our success as a broker-dealer.
Knowing where a practice is at, right now, and understanding where an advisor wants to take his/her practice in the future are crucial. After all, our Business Development Managers are an important bridge connecting Home Office resources with an advisor’s vision.
That’s a pretty large undertaking, and one that our Business Development Team embraces.
When guiding clients in the construction of an appropriate financial strategy, our advisors voice this caution repeatedly: Past performance is no indication of future results. Indeed, when it comes to investing, that’s sage advice. However, when it comes to a broker-dealer’s performance, there’s something to be said for momentum. And, if 2014 is any indication, 2015 is shaping up to be another outstanding year for FSC and its advisors.
We met all of our 2014 performance measures – and then some. Our advisors deployed a host of new tools, including Business Value Calculators, improved Business Analytics capabilities, and mobile technologies, to name a few.
We built out an in-depth and powerful national sales team that reflects a renewed culture of sales at our firm, one that supports all of the lines of business our advisors engage in. Our Women’s Initiative continued to gain momentum as well. We even launched a new, quarterly e-magazine to provide our advisors with business-building resources on the go!
On the meetings front, our new, geographically diverse Focus Forums provided targeted practice building support to smaller gatherings, while ConnectED 2014 was a rousing success. Our largest gathering of attendees ever enjoying world-class keynote speakers, informative educational sessions and great networking opportunities, all at a fantastic locale in Nashville, The Athens of the South.
So, what’s in the hopper for 2015? Multi-faceted growth will be our focus next year: We’re ramping up our Social Media efforts, as well as our support of advisors engaging in the insurance business. At the broker-dealer level, we will be working toward automating the onboarding of advisors; at the individual advisor level we’ll launch an advisor development program. For advisors looking to grow their practices via acquisition, our new Practice Acquisition system will match buyers and sellers within our network.
As we close out this year, we’re reminded that our ongoing and unwavering commitment to our advisors is the key to our success. And, as we look toward the New Year, we remain focused on continuing – and enhancing – our efforts on their behalf.
A Happy and Healthy New Year to You All.
Thanksgiving is a holiday of traditions. Each year, friends and family gather to enjoy the ones that have been passed down for generations, or to create ones of their own. And, let’s not forget the time-honored spectacle of helium-inflated superheroes and other beloved characters gliding above Manhattan to the delight of the young – and the young-at-heart.
But, here’s the thing: most traditions are hard work.
OK, sitting in front of the TV watching football, or Snoopy, isn’t too arduous. But, for the most part, tradition equals effort. That’s because traditions involve adhering to a standard, and it’s usually a high one.
At FSC, we have traditions of accountability, accessibility and excellence. Investors rely on their advisors to help them build financial security. And our advisors rely on us to assist them. Meeting the challenges of the ever-evolving financial services landscape head on takes insight, focus and tenacity. And, it takes an unwavering commitment to customized support powered by the stability and resources of one of the largest networks of independent broker-dealers in the nation.
From Advisor Support to Training and Education; from our National Sales Team to our on-the-ground Business Development Representatives; from investment product analysts to retirement planning specialists… The service is personalized. The support is comprehensive. The technologies are cutting-edge. It’s what our advisors – and their clients – deserve.
And, we’re thankful for the opportunity to assist our advisors in their vital work.
Happy Thanksgiving from everyone at FSC.
Individual Investors… Small Business Owners… Parents with a Special Needs Child…
Retirement…Charitable Giving…Education… A Legacy…
Our advisors support a wide variety of clients and their equally diverse goals. And while these investors and their objectives differ, they ALL engage an independent financial advisor for the same reason: they need the unbiased assistance of a trained professional.
Our seven member Investment Research Team serves as an accessible expert resource for the unbiased investment guidance our advisors require. Advisors can tap into the team’s expertise in any number of ways, including: white papers, conference calls – the team hosts three calls per month on various topics – individual consultations, and our Mutual Fund Reference List.
Our Retirement Plans Team specializes in helping advisors in all phases of retirement planning business. From identifying opportunities, to narrowing down the appropriate product for a plan, the team’s familiarity with evolving regulations, plan design and creating group retirement business plans are a great resource for our advisors looking to build their retirement plan business.
Our Insurance Services Team helps our advisors make smart decisions regarding the use of insurance products and insurance based solutions. Their responsibility is to find out what role insurance plays in an advisor’s practice, what type of service and support the advisor needs to grow that segment of their practice and then to bring that support to bear. In addition to life insurance, the Insurance Services department provides financial advisors access to an array of additional market solutions through Indexed Annuities.
Successful advisors take a personal interest in each of their clients. That’s what successful broker-dealers do as well. Our advisors ARE our clients, and they deserve the type of support they themselves provide. As part of one of the nation’s largest independent broker-dealer networks, our firm has the financial stability and resources to offer advisors robust and state-of-the-art tools and services. Yet, because we retain our own firm identity within the network, we’re able to offer the personalized support that strives to make a difference in every interaction. It’s a balancing act that we believe we’ve perfected.
Our annual ConnectED conference, held on September 8-12 in Nashville, was once again a huge success, providing unique networking and learning opportunities for our financial advisors across all of our broker-dealers. This conference is AIG Advisor Group’s premiere educational event of the year and one of the many educational and networking opportunities the firm provides. Topics covered included Marketing Strategies, Female Perspectives on Investing, Social Media, and more.
The conference commenced with another impressive line up of keynote speakers for our General Sessions, including AIG Advisor Group President and CEO Erica McGinnis, AIG Life and Retirement President and CEO Jay Wintrob, and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
Day Two featured keynote speaker Cam Marston, a leading expert on generational characteristics, while newly named President and CEO of AIG Peter Hancock and Pulitzer Prize winning author and historian David McCullough addressed attendees on Day Three.
ConnectED 2014 offered more than 80 breakout sessions for advisors to choose from, with over half offering Continuing Education credits. This year, more than 50% of the breakouts were at an advanced "301" level.
We look forward to another fabulous experience at next year’s conference in San Antonio.
Our firm is gratified by what we’ve accomplished so far in 2014 as well as by what's to come. In order to maintain this momentum, we know that we need to continue to provide our advisors with the best resources and support to help them achieve success.
With our Business Analytics reporting feature, advisors have the ability to run reports that separate their business assets at multiple levels, enabling them to analyze their clients and accounts by areas such as asset segments, age ranges, and AUM.
Salesforce provides a cloud-based CRM that consolidates information on clients, prospects and leads. It’s accessible to advisors directly from Advisor Portal, with no additional cost.
Our advisors also have access to our Business Value Program (BVP), an archived library of whitepapers, templates, and sample legal agreements providing education and guidance on the subject matter of practice value, acquisitions and succession planning.
Succession Resource Group (SRG) services can be leveraged to help advisors with valuing, protecting, growing, and transitioning their business.
Last but not least, this year's Connected 2014 conference will take place at the Gaylord Opryland, from September 8-12. We once again have an impressive line-up of keynote speakers, some of the best educational and training sessions we have offered, and top-class entertainment.
We’re doing our best to invest in our advisors for the long term. Taking advantage of these top notch resources can help ensure success.
Until recently, when it came to weather, you had two types of people: the ones who enjoyed it and those who complained about it. But, now, we’ve also got people who record it. The more dramatic, the better. Sometimes, with no regard for their own safety and always with the hope of “going viral” in the back of their minds. But, watching an event isn’t as productive as being prepared for it.
Preparation is key to handling storms – both weather-related and financial. That’s why it’s good to always have an umbrella and a financial advisor ready to help provide cover. You never know what’s going to come raining down. Our affiliated advisors are trained in the art of helping investors navigate the uncertainty that financial and economic conditions engender. They’ve chosen our firm as their broker-dealer because we equip them with the resources they need to get the job done.
Our new Business Analytics Reporting features give our advisors the ability to review their practices from multiple angles, to better focus their efforts and support their clients. The result? The ability to deploy data intelligence that truly informs their client interactions – all in real time.
Providing their clients with the specific products and services they need to build a financial future they can count on – in all environments – is job one for our advisors. It’s our privilege to assist them in their efforts.
Happening Now… is Happening Next Month
The excitement is building for the 2014 Women’s Conference, a three-day event that brings together female financial professionals from across our firms to enjoy networking and educational opportunities. This year’s conference will spotlight what is happening now in the industry — with a particular focus on female advisors and female investors. Educational topics include:
The conference will feature renowned keynote speakers Sallie Krawcheck and Jessica Jackley, and numerous Partner firms will be on hand in the exhibition hall to engage attendees.
Again, AIG Advisor Group’s Generation i initiative will play a key role at the conference, as the winner of this year’s Generation i Community Leadership Award is announced and the Generation i team hosts young women from the local Junior Achievement chapter at the conference.
AIG Advisor Group’s unwavering commitment to female financial professionals and female investors is on full display at this one-of-a-kind event. We’re proud to host some of the finest women in our industry at this conference, which gets bigger and better with each passing year.
Spring may be in the air across the United States, but so is the faint aura of panic – emanating primarily from those last-minute U.S. income tax filers. And you know who you are…
Complex tax regulations are challenging to even the financially savvy. Tapping a reliable source of information is crucial to navigating the waters. Fortunately, financial professionals affiliated with our network of broker-dealers have access to our Advanced Sales and Qualified Plans Team – a resource our advisors depend on to help clarify the ever-evolving tax landscape.*
A unique offering within the independent broker-dealer channel, The Advanced Sales and Qualified Plans Team serves as a technical resource to help advisors address the tax and planning issues presented by their clients. The Team also provides advisors with information that they can use to educate their clients, thereby allowing those clients to have better discussions with their personal tax and legal advisors.
Team members also conduct webinars and publish papers on specific topics and are available for individual consultative conversations with advisors.
Providing our advisors with access to such a resource is just part of the service and support we make available. Visit other pages of this website to learn more about our offerings.
*The Team provides tax information, not tax advice.
It’s that time of year again… yes, “March Madness” is upon us. As college hoop fans everywhere don their team colors and put pen to paper to fill in their “brackets,” a lot of thought is given to which team is destined to go the distance.
While we don’t know who, ultimately, will claim the NCAA basketball championship trophy, we can all be sure of the skills the winning team will possess. These are the skills EVERY winning team must bring to the court in order to be successful:
While a good number of our advisors follow us on Facebook, we don’t believe they go so far as to paint their faces with our corporate colors to cheer us on. They simply expect excellence, and don’t make a big deal out of it. And, we simply provide excellence. And, we don’t make a big deal out of it either. It’s just what we do.
Our firm is backed by an expansive and deep team of professionals dedicated to winning. Whether it’s promptly addressing an advisor inquiry, providing personalized training on technology offerings, thoroughly analyzing product offerings, ensuring regulatory compliance, or providing comprehensive recruiting and transition support, our home office team always has its eyes on the prize: making our firm the broker-dealer of choice for successful independent financial professionals.
